Summary
Provides adequate meal preparation to residents living in a Community Living Facility by actively working with nutritionist to create balanced meals for all clients. Will be responsible for completing Direct Support Professional tasks and attending to clients health and medical needs.
Essential Functions
- Obtain menu approval from the registered dietician consultant and plan menus.
- Cook nutritious and tasty meals according to the menus.
- Purchase food and store according to sanitation regulations.
- Manage purchasing to stay within specified food and household budgets.
- Complete a weekly inventory of food stocks.
- Make sure kitchen, dining area, and storage area are cleaned properly.
- Supervise and assist clients involved in programming.
- Assist clients in solving problems related to provided services.
- Learn and implement behavior intervention techniques.
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the food service operation and adjust as necessary.
- Assist with client medical appointments as needed.
- Complete grocery budgeting for clients actively receiving snap benefits monthly.
- Administer medications to clients as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exercise good judgement and patience in working with clients.
- Ability to keep client and OH business information confidential.
- Ability to learn client budgeting, Microsoft excel, Therap, and other agency applications.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in food service.
- Must obtain (within 3 months) and maintain the IL Food Service Manager certification.
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, 3 years driving experience and able to drive at the times required.
- Personal phone (home or cell).
- Be registered as a Developmental Disabilities Aide and be approved by our agency nurse to administer medications within three months of employment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
